Job summary

Choice Hotels International in Scottsdale, AZ seeks an SDET2 to ensure quality of API, web, and mobile applications. You will develop tests, translate requirements into test scenarios, and collaborate with an agile team to deliver features with automated testing.

Responsibilities include maintaining test environments, integrating tests into CI/CD, and mentoring teammates while enhancing testing frameworks and data management. Strong Java and SQL skills are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software test engineering experience or a related bachelor's degree.
• Experience in testing API applications as well as UI applications is needed.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments is preferred.
• Experience with MySQL database and proficiency in writing SQL queries for testing purposes.
• Experience working with Linux CLI is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Java or other OO programming language.
• Familiarity with dependency management.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Harness.

Responsibilities

• Write, maintain, and develop tests for API, web, and mobile applications; prioritize work using backlogs.
• Translate requirements into test scenarios, create test cases, review with stakeholders, execute tests, and address feedback.
• Document test steps and data to ensure maintainability and repeatability.
• Participate in agile standups and sprint ceremonies as part of the team.
• Develop an automatable test plan and automate acceptance criteria.
• Own and maintain test environments and data; integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Create realistic test data scenarios and cover edge cases.
• Execute and analyze automated test results; perform root cause analysis and log defects.
• Contribute to peer code reviews and improve the automation framework.
• Mentor junior team members and promote quality culture.
