Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer II to build tools powering our freight platform. You will tackle challenging problems and help future‑proof our architecture to scale for years to come. You’ll influence design, vision, and development of systems across the company.

You will work in an agile environment on important projects, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver new features. Strong coding and debugging skills with AWS experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Experience with at least one modern language (Java, Python, JavaScript, Go or C#) and unit testing.
• Experience debugging in shell; AWS experience.
• Mentor junior engineers or lead small tasks within a team.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain software to improve performance, durability, cost and security.
• Own the development lifecycle and develop new features for assigned applications.
• Apply best practices to ensure high quality across deliverables.
• Write high quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile environment focusing on priority projects.
• Collaborate with teams across departments to deliver features.
