Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer II – APNT (Onsite) to help design, develop, test and document real-time embedded navigation software. The role involves full software lifecycle work, tools development, field support, and mentoring other engineers.

The candidate should have a STEM degree with 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree, and must be eligible for a DoD Secret clearance as a U.S. citizen. The position is onsite and located in the United States.

Software Engineer II – APNT (Onsite) – Collins Aerospace

At Collins Aerospace, we develop positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) solutions for military and commercial users. The Software Engineer II will help design, develop, test, and document real‑time embedded navigation software.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform all phases of the software engineering life cycle: requirements analysis, design, code development, integration, verification, and documentation.
  • Develop software tools, support field demonstrations, provide customer support, and mentor other engineers.
  • Use a variety of development and test tools and build embedded hardware/software applications.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance (Secret). U.S. citizenship required.

  • Familiarity with Eclipse, Jira, and Jama.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Ada, or other high‑order languages in an embedded environment.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Agile development experience; interest in Scrum Master role.
  • Knowledge of communication systems, message handling, digital signal processing, or Kalman filter theory.

Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 (USD).

Recipient must be U.S. citizen and eligible for a Secret security clearance. The role is onsite. The position is U.S.-based; pay and benefits will vary for U.S. territories.
