Duolingo in New York is seeking a software engineer to join the Subscriber Conversion team. You will develop native Android features in Kotlin and collaborate with product design and backend engineers to ship impactful improvements for paying learners.
The role also includes mentoring juniors and setting technical direction, with an emphasis on clean APIs, testable code, and effective communication with stakeholders.

The Subscriber Conversion team owns the surfaces that turn learners into subscribers and keep them subscribed including in-app hooks and paywalls, the purchase flow, pricing and packaging, payments, and subscription partnerships. The team is highly experimental, running a steady stream of A/B tests across iOS, Android, backend, and web, and balances quick optimizations on high-traffic surfaces with larger bets like new tiers and partner offerings.
