Job summary

JPMorganChase in Chicago seeks a Software Engineer II to join a seasoned agile team. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot trusted market-leading technology products, ensuring security, stability, and scalability across multiple domains.

You will work with Python/TypeScript/Java, UI and API automation, and enterprise AI tooling to enhance code quality, performance, and delivery. Strong QA foundations and CI/CD exposure are essential.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Hands-on experience in QA automation / SDET / test engineering.
• Fluent programming skills in at least one: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Java (able to design/maintain frameworks and debug effectively).
• Hands-on experience with UI automation and backend/API automation.
• Knowledge of testing practices (functional, regression, negative testing, test design) and strong QA fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL for test data validation and verification.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve automation value
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets for continuous improvement
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring new technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
