Job description

About the Company

At Torc, we believe autonomous vehicle technology will transform travel, freight, and business. The company has been commercializing autonomous driving solutions since 2007 and is part of the Daimler family, focusing on software for automated trucks.

Meet the Team

The Autonomous Driving Kit Component Enablement & Calibration (ADKitCE&C) team ensures accuracy and reliability of perception systems across our autonomous vehicle platform. We research, design, and deploy scalable solutions that calibrate and configure ADKit components, supporting safety, performance, and robustness of autonomous driving.

What You'll Do

As a Software Engineer on ADKit CE&C, you will create, implement, debug, and deliver software tools and analysis allowing driver development and validation of ADKit components. You will work hands-on with cross-functional groups and technologies.

  • Develop in collaboration with component leads and suppliers of our full ADKit component, including ADAS sensors and embedded systems.
  • Enable ADAS component prototypes to support upstream development, testing, and integration for the next ADKit generation system.
  • Collaborate with automotive Tier-1 suppliers to remove technical blockers and ensure efficient project execution.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable software solutions to validate component requirements, including lab-based testing and real-world field trials.
  • Explore deep low-level configuration possibilities to bring components to peak operational state for AI data needs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, software engineering, robotics, or related field with 4+ years of experience (or master's degree with 0–3+ years).
  • Strong software architecture mindset with ability to document and present scalable, modular designs across robotics distributed software components.
  • Expertise in C++ (C++14 or newer) producing clean, maintainable code for high-performance embedded clusters.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR concepts applied to ADAS systems, including application/service configuration and basic PDU configuration.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR Classic system and software development, E/E modeling, ARXML authoring, basic software configuration, integration, and testing tooling.
  • Knowledge of embedded diagnostics protocols (SOVD, UDS) and ability to implement interfaces for telemetry and remote assistance.
  • Proficiency in Linux development, Git, Docker, and build systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, cross-team alignment, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in component laboratories and truck garages, travel occasionally, and collaborate across geographies.
Bonus Points!
  • Experience developing safety-critical software and systems following industry standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ASPICE).
  • Experience with CAN, Automotive Ethernet, GMSL2, and A2B protocols, including transceiver configuration.
  • Experience with Vector and AUTOSAR tools (PREE Vision, DaVinci, CANoe, CANdela).
  • Interest in 3D printing projects.
  • Exposure to authentication/authorization (OAuth, SAML, certificate-based).
