Job summary

VRC seeks a Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and deploy secure, scalable fintech solutions for internal and external users. You will translate business needs, integrate third-party platforms, and support cloud infrastructure.

You will work with analysts, consultants, and stakeholders, own small projects, and contribute to CI/CD, security, and documentation while supporting Agile processes.

This role develops software solutions for financial modeling, portfolio valuation, risk analytics, and client reporting. The Software Engineer II helps design, build, test, and deploy secure, scalable applications that improve efficiency, data access, and the client experience. Working with business, consulting, and technology teams, this position translates requirements into maintainable solutions, integrates third-party financial data platforms, supports cloud infrastructure, and delivers fintech solutions for internal and external users.

What you will do:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software features, services, and interfaces for financial modeling, valuation, risk analytics, and reporting
  • Own small projects from requirements through deployment, ensuring quality, performance, and maintainability
  • Translate business needs into technical designs and software solutions with analysts, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Integrate and maintain third-party platforms, APIs, market data providers, and portfolio systems
  • Build and enhance data workflows supporting reporting, analytics, and operations
  • Support software quality through code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, designs, implementation plans, and demos
  • Support Agile processes, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • Follow security, compliance, and development standards for secure, reliable delivery
What you will need:
  • 2 to 4 years of professional software application development and support experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Cloud or software development certifications a plus
  • Proficiency in a backend stack such as Python, FastAPI, C#, SQL, or similar technologies
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar technologies
  • Strong SQL, relational database, data modeling, and query optimization skills
  • Experience with NoSQL, messaging, or event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with containers, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, secrets management, and secure coding
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and external services
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of valuation inputs (Equity vs. Credit investments, accounting terms, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to estimate work, manage priorities, and deliver multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience collaborating across functions and supporting client-facing engagements
  • Self-starter able to learn new technologies and business domains quickly
  • Current authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
