Job summary

A valuation research corporation is seeking a Senior Associate to conduct valuations of various securities for investment companies. This role involves conducting research, building financial models, and assisting junior analysts. The ideal candidate has 4 to 6 years of experience in valuation and a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.   • Gather and document pertinent data obtained through client interaction.
  • Build, modify and utilize financial models for various valuations.
  • Assist junior analysts and perform valuation analyses.

Job description

About this role:

This position conducts valuations of various securities for investment companies (hedge funds, BDCs, etc.). Such securities may consist of illiquid investments, such as bank loans, subordinated debt, and preferred and common equity in privately‑held companies, as well as structured products. Senior Associates assist the Portfolio group leader on both a managerial and analytical level, and work with junior analysts to complete valuation assignments.

What you will do:
  • Conduct research on securities, competitors, industry, and capital markets, including market multiples, comparable ratios, and credit spreads
  • Gather and document pertinent data obtained through client interaction
  • Build, modify and utilize financial models for discounted cash flow, guideline market multiple, market transaction and option valuations
  • Assist junior analysts and perform valuation analyses and use judgment to conclude fair value of relevant securities across a wide range of industries using relevant qualitative information gathered and through the application of proprietary quantitative valuation models
  • Work with management to build and maintain client relationships
  • Prepare and review reports to clients
What you will need:
  • 4 to 6 years’ of constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Any coursework in valuation, financial statement analysis is a plus
  • CFA or ASA designation or progress towards CFA or ASA designation is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical capabilities are essential
  • Experience working with diverse teams
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and handle dynamic, time-sensitive engagements in a team setting
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work flexible hours around critical client due dates
  • Current authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
