Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Python-focused backend developer to join the Authentication Team, building secure, scalable web applications. You will contribute to Akamai Control Center and Linode Cloud Manager, with emphasis on secure platform components and web services.

Responsibilities include Python backend development, integration of security practices (OWASP Top 10), RESTful API design, and containerized deployments using Docker. Familiarity with JS/TS/Angular is a plus for full-stack work.

Developing and maintaining backend services and full-stack web applications using Python, with potential inclusion of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Java. Implementing security best practices (OWASP Top 10) while ensuring expertise in core internet protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL. Engaging in every phase of the project lifecycle, from system design to deployment and post-release issue resolution. Do what you love Demonstrate expertise in computer science fundamentals, such as data structures, algorithms, and system design, through accredited education or equivalent practical experience. Develop practical backend solutions in Python using frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI, while creating RESTful APIs for production environments. Demonstrate expertise in SQL, Docker, Git, shell scripting, and managing services in active production environments effectively. Apply practical knowledge of internet technologies, core web protocols, web security concepts, and OWASP Top 10 practices effectively and comprehensively. Embrace learning and utilizing emerging technologies while maintaining openness to modern AI-assisted development tools for innovative solutions.

Nice to have:Full-stack / frontend experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular), exposure to Java/Spring or NoSQL, or background in auth systems (OAuth 2.0, SAML).
