SEACORP in Middletown, RI seeks a Software Engineer I/II to join the Electronics Warfare Software team. You will analyze user needs, design software, and collaborate across project management, logistics, and security to integrate hardware and software systems.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in engineering with CS concentration and 1–3 years of experience with C++, UML, Linux, and software documentation. U.S. citizenship and a current secret clearance are required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Job Description

SEACORP's Electronic Warfare Business Area is seeking entry to mid-level Software Engineers. These candidate will be responsible for tasking, collaborating and interacting with customers and colleagues, require creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, as well as strong organizational and presentation skills. This ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and be self-motivated.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Work with other functional disciplines (e.g., project management, acquisition, logistics, security, etc.) to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and performance requirements.
• Maintain databases within an application area.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance.
• Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
• Consult with engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements, or resolve customer problems.
• Direct software programming and development of documentation.
• Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
• Confer with data processing or project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects.
• Consult with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.
• Prepare reports or correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, or status.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with a field of concentration in Computer Science.

Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills and Experience

• Candidates must be proficient in C++ software development and have experience designing software using Unified Modeling Language (UML).
• Candidate must also be proficient in a Linux development environment and proficient in writing software requirements and design documentation.
• Candidates should have experience using Qt Framework, writing Software Requirements Document (SRS) and Software Design Document (SDD), and experience using Data Distribution Protocol (DDS).

Required

U.S. citizenship and current DOD Secret clearance are required.

Location: Middletown, RI

Travel: Infrequently (<3 annually)

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
