Job summary

Jobtailor in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, is seeking an entry-level software engineer to develop and maintain ATMS-integrated software. You will participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with a cross-functional team to design, implement, test, and integrate software components.

The role requires a STEM degree with <2 years of relevant experience, proficiency in Java/C++ and scripting (Bash/Python), and familiarity with Docker/Podman/Kubernetes in a Unix/Linux environment. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to communicate professionally in English (oral and written).
Exposure to software development, integration, testing, or validation, preferably in Unix/Linux.
Familiarity with Java or C/C++ programming languages.
Basic knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker/Podman/Kubernetes).
Proficiency with Bash and Python scripting.
U.S. citizenship required for program access.
Familiarity with asynchronous messaging frameworks and Agile practices using Jira/Confluence/Bamboo/Bitbucket.
Interest in learning Ada language and software testing/debugging.

Job description

Develop and maintain software integrated into Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) products
Assist in maintaining documentation and work instructions to meet high-maturity-level software engineering standards and processes
Collaborate with the team in the Agile process, including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and story pointing
Work with an integrated engineering team in a collaborative environment
Participate in multi-level communication with engineering team members, program management, and external stakeholders
Support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the software development lifecycle

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
Exposure to software development, integration, testing, or validation, preferably in a Unix/Linux environment
Familiarity with Java or C/C++ programming languages
Basic knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash and Python
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Familiarity with asynchronous messaging frameworks
