Job summary

Jobtailor in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks an experienced avionics software engineer to contribute to multi-line product development and customer contracts. The role requires robust C/C++/Python skills and expertise with AGILE processes, DO-178B/C standards, and complex distributed systems.

The ideal candidate will work across Windows and Unix/Linux environments, collaborate with a dispersed team, and help optimize cost-value while building prototypes and demonstrations for new capabilities.

Qualifications

Degree in STEM and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
Experience with C/C++, Ada, and/or Python across the full SDLC.
Windows and Unix/Linux development environments.
Software integration, testing, and debugging experience.
Design and development of deliverable software (production or consumer facing).
AGILE development experience.
Knowledge of DO-178B/C avionics certifications.
FACE knowledge.
Aircraft-level system integration experience.
Familiarity with Git, Jira, SVN.
Familiarity with Docker Desktop and containerization.
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, optimize distributed algorithms.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
Experience working across the full software development lifecycle using C/C++, Ada, and/or Python.
Experience programming in Windows and Unix/Linux based development environment.
Experience in software integration, testing, and debugging source code.
Experience in the design and development of deliverable software (production or consumer facing).
AGILE development experience.
Knowledge of Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: DO-178B/C.
Operational knowledge and experience with Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE).
Experience with aircraft level system integration.
Familiarity with Git, Jira, and/or SVN for configuration management and workflow management.
Familiarity with Docker Desktop and/or containerization.
Proven capacity for analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex algorithms within distributed software systems.
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if needed.
