Job summary

RTX’s Advanced Products and Solutions unit seeks a Software Engineer I to contribute to EO/IR programs in McKinney, TX. This entry‑level role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and integrating C++ software for real-time Linux systems powering aerospace and defense applications.

You will join agile teams, collaborate with systems and hardware engineers, and work onsite to meet performance, reliability, and security requirements while pursuing growth, training, and clearances.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• Experience in C++ programming and OO design.
• Experience with Linux OS, shell scripting and CLI tools.
• Collaborative, team‑oriented environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug C++ software for real-time systems running on Linux platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless software integration.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for performance, reliability, and scalability of mission-critical applications.
• Perform integration testing with hardware and ensure compliance with system requirements.
• Write and maintain software documentation including design specs and reports.
• Work onsite at McKinney, TX.
• Support Formal Qualification Test events.
• Conduct unit and integration testing to verify functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues to deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Adhere to aerospace coding standards and security guidelines.
