Job summary

Stanford University’s Department of Ophthalmology seeks software engineers to build and scale the Neuro-AI project infrastructure. You will ensure reproducibility, implement CI/CD, and maintain high-quality production code supporting interdisciplinary labs across Stanford, including Tolias and Moore labs.

You will develop applications, manage data workflows, and help advance brain-inspired AI research with robust, scalable software systems in a fast-paced academic setting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience developing production-grade codebases.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and system-level languages (C/C++, Rust).
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and collaborative development platforms like GitHub.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Strong knowledge of test-driven development and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Slurm).
  • Experience with scientific software development and open-source projects.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.

Responsibilities

  • Assess user needs and requirements.
  • Design and develop applications with complex data manipulation.
  • Maintain and update existing programs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Create programs to satisfy reporting and analysis needs.
  • Design and implement user and operations training programs.
  • Document changes for end users.
  • Follow team software development methodology.
  • Serve as technical resource for applications.
  • Other duties as assigned
