Job summary

Moveworks is hiring a Software Engineer for Core Infrastructure (New Grad) in the US. You will join the Moveworks AI infrastructure team to architect and operate foundational services, enabling rapid product scaling and AI-driven workflows.

Work with ML, search, data, and frontend teams to deliver resilient, scalable systems. You will design distributed storage, APIs, auth, and configuration, while improving observability and performance.

Qualifications

• BS+ in computer science or a related field.
• Strong problem solving and fundamentals in at least one backend language.
• Experience with RESTful APIs/services and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of concurrency, networking, and caching.
• Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Istio is a plus.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new tech.

Responsibilities

• Closely work with ML, search, product, data, and frontend teams, influence infrastructure roadmap, and lead projects.
• Build and enhance the core infrastructure and foundational functionalities such as distributed key value store, schema-less data store, authentication and authorization, event streaming, distributed configuration management and hot reloading, rate limiting and circuit breaking, feature flags and A/B testing, traffic capture and replay.
• Improve observability and reliability of Moveworks systems by building and enhancing distributed logging, tracing, monitoring and alerting infrastructure
• Define methodologies and metrics to measure performance of microservices and product functionalities, identify and fix bottlenecks, and improve overall performance and scalability of Moveworks applications
• Regularly deliver deadline sensitive work that is interdependent with other engineering teams
• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.

As a member of the core infrastructure team, you will be responsible for architecting the next generation of the Moveworks AI infrastructure. As Moveworks grows fast, the infrastructure team is tasked with designing and operating reliable and resilient foundational services as well as frameworks that allow our product to scale seamlessly and our engineering teams to build customer facing features very rapidly.

We’re building a team that indexes on moving fast, solving challenging product/engineering problems and providing value to our customers. To be successful, you'll be partnering with machine learning, search, product, data, and full stack teams to identify, define and build elegant solutions. What you’ll do:

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI’s potential impact on the function or industry.
• BS+ in computer science or a related field
• Strong problem solving skills and programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, Python, C++, etc.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object oriented design
• Familiarity with building RESTful APIs/services, request/response handling, error handling and distributed service architecture
• Good understanding of concurrency, networking, scalability, caching, messaging, containers and cloud platforms
• Experience working with and operating open source technologies like Kafka, Elasticsearch or Opensearch, Istio, etc. is a plus
• High level of curiosity and desire to learn

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $125,700 - $194,800, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs.

Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
