Job summary

Securian Financial is seeking a software developer to join the Bills, Beneficiary and Beyond (BBB) team within Employee Benefit Solutions Technology. The role focuses on designing, coding, testing, and supporting software across a mix of on‑prem and cloud components in a hybrid environment.

Expect 3–5 years of Java development experience, strong collaboration, and a willingness to learn new technologies while delivering reliable systems for benefits processing and customer data.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience building software using Java and familiarity with JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows.
• Willingness to learn in a complex domain with customer and employee data.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams and business partners in an agile environment.
• Provide on‑call support and production issue response.
• Perform analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and implementation of mid‑ to high‑complexity tasks.
• Support technology modernization and learn new technologies used in the project.
• Understand billing, beneficiary and data processes and their integration with other systems.
