Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced engineer to own fleet-scale data recording and delivery for autonomous vehicle software development. You will build Python services spanning cloud, backend, and data platforms to capture, transfer, process, and make data usable for AI workflows.

You will refine requirements, lead design reviews, resolve complex integration issues, and apply AI/LLMs to triage telemetry, classify failures, and automate engineering tasks. A hybrid work model is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related technical field.
• Production-quality Python software or data workflows experience.
• Embedded/robotics or automotive tech exposure preferred.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience with telemetry processing, data pipelines, cloud services, or reliability automation.

Responsibilities

• Own project-level initiatives to improve reliability of vehicle data recording and telemetry workflows.
• Develop Python software for telemetry processing, data validation, metrics, reliability automation, and tooling.
• Build components that capture, filter, validate, store, and deliver vehicle and sensor data.
• Define data-quality checks, metrics semantics, dashboards, and service-level indicators.
• Debug complex issues across data pipelines, cloud ingestion, storage, and backend integrations.
• Apply AI/LLMs to triage, classification, root-cause analysis, and workflow automation.
• Collaborate across cloud, backend, data engineering, and fleet ops teams to align interfaces and expectations.
• Improve performance, scalability, observability, privacy, availability, and cost across data workflows.
• Deliver reliable software via requirements, reviews, testing, CI, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to reusable patterns, tooling, and documentation.
