Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Software Engineer 2 to design, develop, and maintain software solutions across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments using C#, .NET, and React.

You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to translate requirements into scalable APIs and frontend components while implementing DevOps practices and ensuring security and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years as a Software Engineer with hands-on C# and .NET.
• Experience with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automated deployments.
• Experience with Git, Scrum or Kanban, and other agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of microservices, APIs, databases (SQL Server, MongoDB), and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Build APIs, microservices, and front‑end components with React and .NET.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to translate requirements.
• Implement DevOps and CI/CD practices for automated deployments.
• Ensure security, compliance (SOX, PCI‑DSS, GDPR), and governance in cloud/hybrid setups.
• Lead code reviews and contribute to architectural design for scalability and reliability.
