Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer II with 3+ years of experience to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to deliver scalable solutions built on Java and modern technologies.

You will contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, and secure coding practices while partnering with product managers and engineers to ensure quality and reliability across platforms. This role is based in Helena, Montana.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Software Engineering, Test Automation, or a related role.
• Strong Java programming skills.
• Experience with enterprise applications, automation frameworks, and testing platforms.
• Solid understanding of OOP, design principles, and design patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs and service-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications and automation solutions using Java.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Build and maintain automated validation frameworks that support functional, integration, API, and end-to-end testing scenarios.
• Contribute to application design discussions with a focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and testability.
• Develop reusable libraries, utilities, and frameworks that improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions to promote engineering best practices.
• Improve test coverage, automation maturity, and quality metrics across products and services.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and ensure quality gates are integrated throughout the delivery process.
• Apply secure coding standards and contribute to operational excellence through monitoring, observability, and reliability practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity while maintaining quality and security standards.
