Job summary

Finch AI is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical applications in the Washington, DC metro area. The role requires US citizenship and the ability to work onsite or hybrid depending on program needs.

You will collaborate with product, DevOps, and QA teams, participate in Agile ceremonies, and contribute to system design while supporting government integrations and secure data sources.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages.
• Experience with software development lifecycle practices, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Experience supporting missions for DoW, DHS, FBI, or another national security agency.
• Willingness to work onsite in the DC metro area as required.

Clearance: US Citizenship required.

Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (VA/DC/MD) — Onsite/Hybrid per program requirements. Candidates must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the DC metro area prior to start.

Salary: $140,000–$225,000 — Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GovCloud).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with modern front-end and back-end frameworks.
• Experience supporting classified or mission-critical systems.

Education And Work Experience

3–15 years of relevant experience, with placement (Mid, Senior, or Lead) commensurate with demonstrated experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
