Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Software Development Engineer in the Warren, Michigan area to build real-time, distributed manufacturing software. You will focus on edge data collection workflows, cloud data pipelines (Databricks), and web interfaces for real-time shop-floor synchronization.

Responsibilities include designing distributed web applications, ingesting real-time data streams, and coordinating on-site hardware deployments with vendors to enable robust factory analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
• 3-5 years of programming and software development experience.
• 1-2 years of data analytics experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy robust web applications for real-time, multi-user updates to centralized manufacturing databases.
• Ingest and process real-time data streams from barcode/QR code readers and edge hardware to construct reliable operational databases.
• Utilize Databricks to process, aggregate, and leverage cloud-hosted operational data for factory analytics and decision support.
• Direct the physical deployment of tablet terminals and QR readers on the factory floor; coordinate with vendors to design hardware fixtures.

This role focuses on developing edge data collection workflows, cloud data pipelines (Databricks), and web interfaces for real-time shop-floor synchronization.

Key Responsibilities

• Distributed System & Web Development: Design, build, and deploy robust web applications optimized for mobile/tablet interfaces, enabling real-time, multi-user concurrent updates to centralized manufacturing databases.
• Real-Time Edge Data Integration: Ingest and process real-time data streams from barcode/QR code readers and edge hardware to construct reliable operational databases.
• Cloud Data Pipeline Engineering: Utilize Databricks to process, aggregate, and leverage cloud-hosted operational data for factory analytics and decision support.
• On-Site Hardware Installation & Vendor Design Coordination: Direct the physical deployment and setup of tablet terminals and QR readers on the factory floor; collaborate with external suppliers/vendors to design and fabricate custom hardware fixtures (e.g., tablet stands, protective enclosures).
