Job summary

Paradromics, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to help build software for the Connexus BCI platform. You will work with scientists and engineers to design software that restores communication for our BCI users and enable clinical studies of the Connexus System.

You will develop data curation strategies, realize decoding algorithms, and evaluate software with neural data and BCI hardware in the loop. Regular travel between Austin and Oakland offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent real world experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience relevant to this role.

About Paradromics

Brain-related illness is one of the last great frontiers in medicine, not because the brain is unknowable, but because it has been inaccessible. Paradromics is building a brain-computer interface (BCI) platform that records brain activity at the highest possible resolution: the individual neuron. AI algorithms then decode this massive amount of brain-data, enabling the seamless translation of thought into treatments.

Our first clinical application, the Connexus® BCI, will help people who are unable to speak, due to ALS, spinal cord injuries, and stroke, to communicate independently through digital devices. However, the capabilities of our BCI platform go far beyond our first application. With the brain in direct communication with digital devices, we can leverage technology to transform how we treat conditions ranging from sensory and motor deficits to untreatable mental illness.

The Role

As a Software Engineer at Paradromics, you’ll work closely with our team of Scientists and Engineers to develop software that enables our clinical applications. You will help design software to restore communication ability for our BCI users, enabling successful clinical studies of the Connexus System.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent real world experience
• 3+ years of professional experience relevant to this role

Required Qualifications

• Highly proficient in Python
• Experience with Rust, C++, or Go
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and experience collaborating with machine learning practitioners
• Demonstrated prior professional experience with multiple programming languages

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of operating systems concepts and performant software
• Familiarity with signal processing / time series data processing concepts and algorithms.
• Experience working on projects involving quality management systems, such as medical device development, aviation, finance, defense
