Job summary

ApplyMint is seeking a seasoned Java software engineer to design and implement enterprise APIs in a microservices architecture. You will work in a fast-paced, small team, applying strong testing and troubleshooting skills while delivering under deadlines.

The role requires a government Secret clearance and will involve onsite work 2 days a week in San Antonio, TX or Columbia, MD. Stay current with emerging tech and collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Security Clearance: US Government Secret clearance and US citizenship.
• 5+ years in software engineering with modern Java frameworks; 3 years with a Master’s degree; or 9 years with HS diploma.
• Experience designing enterprise APIs.
• Experience with RESTful web services.
• Experience in Microservices architecture.
• Experience with OOP.
• Exposure to agile software lifecycle.
• Ability to learn quickly; works independently or in a team.
• Experience with Linux.
• Experience with Git, Nexus, Maven.
• Must obtain Security+ within 60 days.
• Can work onsite 2 days/week in San Antonio, TX or Columbia, MD.

Minimum Qualifications

• Security Clearance - A current U.S. Government Secret security clearance is required to start; U.S. citizenship required. Can also consider candidates with a higher level clearance for this work.
• At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience in designing enterprise APIs.
• Experience in RESTful web services.
• Experience in Microservices architecture.
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
• Experience with the Linux operating system.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Must be able to obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to work 2 days a week onsite in San Antonio, TX or Columbia, MD. However, flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience/interest in Kotlin is a plus.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification (Security+) is preferred.
• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
• Scripting experience is a huge plus.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).
