Job description

We are seeking a Camunda Engineer with backend experience who will design, develop, and support enterprise workflow automation solutions using Camunda BPM and related technologies. The role partners with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable workflow and process orchestration solutions. Candidates should have strong experience with Camunda, Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud platforms, and workflow automation best practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement workflow automation solutions using Camunda BPM, BPMN 2.0, DMN, and process orchestration technologies.

Deliver workflow solutions across the full project lifecycle, including process discovery, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and production support.

Develop and maintain Java and Spring Boot services, REST APIs, and microservices supporting business process automation initiatives.

Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to convert business processes into scalable and executable workflow solutions.

Recommend process optimization opportunities, workflow modernization strategies, and automation best practices to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of enterprise software development experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on Camunda implementation experience.
  • Strong experience with Camunda 7/8, BPMN 2.0, DMN, workflow automation, process orchestration, Java, Spring Boot, and REST API development.
  • Experience integrating workflow platforms with enterprise applications, databases, messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Camunda Optimize, Operate, Tasklist, and workflow monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience delivering process modernization and enterprise automation initiatives.
  • Financial services workflow implementation experience.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Seeking candidates based out of Raleigh, NC or Dallas, TX for this hybrid role that requires working onsite every other week Monday-Friday.
