Redgate is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to own and deliver meaningful features across core systems. You’ll learn design principles, testing methods, and Redgate’s internal workflows while contributing from day one.
Join a cross-functional team in a hybrid role combining office-based collaboration in Cambridge with remote work options, and grow technically as exposure spans data, security, licensing, and identity services.
Location: Cambridge
In-office expectation: Once every two weeks
Employment type: Permanent
Salary: up to £55,000 DOE
Redgate's internal systems, covering data, security, purchasing, licensing, identity, authentication and usage, keep the wider business and thousands of customers running smoothly. As the company scales and takes on new commercial offerings, the Shared Applications & Services group needs engineers who can help keep that platform healthy, resilient and ready for what's next. This role gives a mid-level engineer real ownership over meaningful features while building the deeper technical and architectural understanding needed to grow further.
Redgate brings together people who want to do their best work in an environment built on trust, accountability, and collaboration.
We build solutions that help data professionals securely manage the data and databases that their organisations depend on, a space that's only becoming more critical as systems scale, data regulations increase, and AI adoption accelerates.
By 2028, Redgate will operate as an expert-plus-agent company, domain experts amplified by AI, delivering customer value at a pace our peers can't match.
AI handles the heavy lifting. Our people control the judgement. Everyone at Redgate works with Claude, giving you access to the best AI tools from day one.
You'll join a small, cross-functional team, made up of a Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Product Owner and fellow engineers, alongside a Shared Applications & Services Manager and an architect who provide direction and support at the group level.
There's a coaching function in place to help you get unblocked, and real scope to grow your technical and architectural understanding as you take on more.
The team cares about craft, collaboration and quality, and values sustainable delivery: good ways of working and time to improve how you build, not just what you ship.
As a Software Engineer (Mid), you'll independently deliver significant features end-to-end across systems that the whole business relies on, seeking support as needed while continuing to build your knowledge of design principles, testing methods and Redgate's internal systems.
Salary range: Up to £55,000
We believe that people do their best work in an environment built on respect, fairness, and trust, and that diverse perspectives lead to better outcomes. Redgate is an equal opportunity employer, and we make hiring decisions based on skill, potential, and alignment with our values.
