Job summary

Luthor is hiring a Staff / Senior Software Engineer to help build the core systems powering our AI-driven governance platform. You will work directly with the CEO and CTO to design and implement the backbone of our backend, ensuring reliability and scalability for enterprise workflows.

You’ll gather customer feedback, own architectural decisions, and lead the charge to scale across geographies while shipping valuable features and mentoring upcoming backend engineers.

We help financial and legal institutions review, approve, and monitor marketing and communications workflows at the speed of modern content production.

Over the past year, we’ve onboarded some of the world’s largest financial institutions, surpassed $850B+ AUM on platform, and expanded across banks, lenders, asset managers, and law firms.

We’re now hiring a Staff / Senior Software Engineer to help build the core systems powering the platform across applied AI, workflow orchestration, retrieval, policy enforcement, auditability, and multimodal review.

You’ll work directly with the founding team in San Francisco and deploy AI systems into real production environments where accuracy, reliability, and trust actually matter.

About the Role

As our second full-time engineering hire, you’ll work directly with the CEO and CTO (both engineers) to design and build the backbone of our platform.

You’ll interface directly with our customers and prospects to gather feedback to develop novel solutions to the unique problems they face around marketing compliance.

This is startup life in its truest form: fast-paced, challenging, and immensely rewarding. You’ll take ownership of your work, see the immediate impact on customers, and help define the engineering culture for years to come.

What to expect

Within days:

• Ship to production on day one.
• Develop backend logic for performance and scalability for frontend requests.
• Design robust data models and manage databases.

Within weeks:

• Build integration and product infrastructure for LLMs. Provide Luthor agents with the infrastructure, data sources, and tools they need to automate workflows for financial compliance teams.
• Lead customer calls to gather feedback and refine backend features.

Within months:

• Own customer outcomes and success. Continue shipping value, not just code.
• Lead architectural decisions to scale our services across geographies, tech stacks, and business types.
• Hire, onboard, and nurture future backend teammates.

Tech stack

• Experience with Rails, React, Postgres (or similar)
• LLMs, prompt engineering, or agent-based systems
• Workflow automation or integration-heavy systems

• Experienced in Fast-Growth B2B – You’ve built and scaled high-performing software products, shipping fast and often. Bonus if you have experience in fintech or enterprise SaaS.
