Job summary

Trayo is a fast-moving, VC-backed startup building an AI-powered product for enterprise teams. As one of the first senior engineers, you will shape architecture and core technical decisions while working closely with the founders and product leadership.

You’ll ship features end-to-end, develop AI-enabled workflows and internal tooling, design scalable APIs and data models, and drive reliability, observability, and performance in a fast-moving, hybrid role based in San Mateo.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, databases, services).
• Product mindset and strong ownership.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
• Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build customer-facing product features end-to-end (backend + frontend as needed).
• Develop AI-enabled workflows and internal tooling that improve product capabilities.
• Design APIs, data models, and services that scale with usage.
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to turn vague problems into shipped product.

Our founding team brings rare depth across both scale and startupexecution:

• Our CEO previously led multiple large-scale analytics services(hundreds of millions in ARR), owning P&L, product, and GTM, and helpedscale a major product from early stage through IPO. Her background spansenterprise software, go-to-market strategy, and AI/ML-driven data platforms.
• Our CTO is a multi-time founder with successful acquisitionsand deep technical leadership experience building developer products andbusiness software used by millions of customers.

Why This Role is Special

This is a true early-stage builder role. You'll be one of the firstsenior engineers, part of the first generation of engineering in agrowing company. You will:

• Influence architecture, standards, and core technical decisions early
