Job summary

TRUMPF Inc. in Santa Clara, CA, seeks an Engineering Technician I - Software Development to support software and firmware modifications for high power RF and VHF generator equipment.

Travel 10–20% in year one, with potential international travel after training. Qualifications include 2+ years in similar roles, an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred in Software, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Materials Science), and knowledge of Ethernet/DeviceNet/Profibus.

Qualifications

• Experience 2+ years in similar software engineering or technical positions.
• Read and understand vacuum system architecture, including mechanical and electrical blueprints; basic understanding of electrical and control systems.
• Basic understanding of systems/network communications technology - Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant administrative and industry software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highest level of product knowledge and industry applications.
• Articulate technology and product positioning to business and technical users.
• Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
• Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
• Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements to internal stakeholders; lead to client consultation and presentation of proposed design concepts.
• Assist in design and development of new products and tools to progress business objectives.
• Maintain records of client accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence.
• Provide status reporting of ongoing and future projects.
• Travel to local project sites for start-up, integration, and training services.
