Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Seattle, WA seeks a Software Development Manager to lead a team responsible for building and operating the core platform that powers AWS services. You will own the lifecycle from conception to delivery, partnering with product teams and customers to drive a strategic roadmap and scale complex systems.

You will mentor engineers, define technical strategy, and ensure best practices across the full software development lifecycle, enabling reliable, high-quality services

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software development engineers tasked with building or solving complex software problems
• Work successfully with customers, leaders, and other engineering teams
• Shape technical strategy by demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge in software development disciplines
• Guide teams in software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Make architectural decisions and understand systems design at scale
• Solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand broader context
