Job summary

Amazon's Selection Monitoring team in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a squad of SDEs delivering fault-tolerant, scalable services for data discovery and lifecycle management of petabytes of datasets.

You will partner with Principal Engineers, Sr.SDEs, PMs to define the technical vision, own deployment orchestration across hybrid compute environments, and drive career growth within your high-performing team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Principal Engineers, Sr.SDEs, and Product and Program Management to define and grow the technical and architectural vision for Selection Monitoring's mission-critical systems driving the brand and product experience on Amazon.
• Deliver and own scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available services that underpin our large-scale data processing solutions.
• Build and own systems for Data discovery and lifecycle management of hundreds of datasets spanning several Petabytes.
• Develop solutions to efficiently deploy and orchestrate hundreds of application flows across a hybrid set of compute environments.
• Utilize serverless and container technologies to build next-gen scalable compute layer solutions.
• Build and grow a team of high performing SDEs, and be responsible and invested in career growth of your team members.
• Drive operational excellence initiative and continuously improve quality bar for software delivered by the team.
