Job summary

OnLogic in Vermont seeks a hands-on Manager, Software Development to lead a global team of about 10 engineers building software for business and customers. You’ll steer AI-driven development, establish coding standards, and mentor engineers to maximize impact.

The role requires onsite presence at South Burlington, VT or Cary, NC with relocation or comfortable commuting. Expect focus on speed, quality, and measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development with at least 4 years of experience managing and growing a team of 6+ developers.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agentic systems.
• Experience owning multiple production applications including release management, monitoring and incident response.
• Strong command of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code review and version control (Git).
• Ability to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Set the software development strategy for internal and customer-facing applications.
• Lead a high-performing team that plans against capacity and delivers measurable business results.
• Increase delivery speed while maintaining quality using deployment metrics to remove friction.
• Lead adoption of AI coding tools and agentic systems with reusable patterns and standards.
• Ensure stability and security through release practices, monitoring and debt reduction.
• Develop engineers through clear goals and regular coaching, building a culture of trust and accountability.
• Raise code quality through design/code reviews, standards, and hands-on coding when needed.
• Align priorities with business owners and represent software development in IT leadership decisions.
