We’re looking for a Software Development Manager to join our team in Canada. In this role, you will own the engagement and performance of engineers by developing resilience and nurturing high-performance; leading by example and empowering others to do their best work. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technical delivery and can provide technical advice on decisions impacting other teams or the company at large.

Location: Canada/USA, with the ability to work within EST/EDT hours. Options include fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based work environments (in cities with local offices).

Our culture values creating autonomous, empowered teams that deliver frequently and iteratively. As a Software Development Manager, you’ll help solve complex problems for our global merchants.

We build on a modern stack: web apps (Typescript/React), APIs to Go services, backed by databases and Kafka, deployed via Docker on AWS, with deployments approximately every 7 minutes.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Coach, mentor, and motivate engineers from diverse backgrounds, including hiring, training, and conducting 1:1s, peer programming, whiteboarding, or training sessions.
2. Help your team deliver high-quality code using continuous delivery, maintain a strong delivery cadence, and engage with stakeholders through demos, retrospectives, and incident reviews. You’ll also write code, review code, fix bugs, and provide technical documentation.
3. Evaluate and improve our technical architecture, adopting industry best practices.

Required experience:

• Technical leadership in delivering solutions to complex problems, including architecture and delivery management.
• Experience with success and failure (“scars”) that inform better decisions.
• Experience working on major systems in one or more languages, preferably in SaaS environments.
• Adaptability and ability to grow with the company.
• Leadership experience or readiness to lead teams.
