Aptiv is seeking a motivated Software Development Intern to join our engineering team in Troy, NY. You will gain hands-on experience in software development while collaborating with experienced developers on real-world projects.

The role focuses on building, testing, and debugging software, with emphasis on C/C++ in embedded contexts, and includes participation in code reviews and development documentation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS/Software/CE/EE or related field.
• Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C, or C#).
• Understanding of fundamental programming concepts and data structures.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git preferred).
• Experience with firmware development on microcontrollers (C, C++).
• Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.

Your Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Software Development Intern to join our engineering team. This internship provides hands-on experience in software development while working alongside experienced developers on real-world projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about coding, eager to learn, and looking to apply their academic knowledge in a professional environment.

Your responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, testing, and debugging software applications
• Collaborate with team members on coding projects and feature implementation
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions
• Help maintain and improve existing codebases
• Document code and development processes
• Support quality assurance testing
• Attend team meetings and contribute ideas

Your Background:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
• Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C, or C# - C is preferrable)
• Understanding of fundamental programming concepts and data structures
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git preferred)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts
• Experience with firmware development with microcontrollers (C, C++)
• Familiarity with Microcontrollers and programming for embedded systems
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum)
• Previous project experience (academic, personal, or professional)
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles
