Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. seeks a Software Development Engineer II to help build the next generation of Amazon Q. You will own features from design through production on a team that connects foundation models with AWS knowledge and retrieval systems.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and applied scientists to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable software across AWS, shaping agentic AI capabilities at AWS scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Build customer-facing Amazon Q capabilities and the backend services that power them.
• Solve complex engineering problems involving generative AI, distributed systems, and retrieval.
• Own features and services throughout their lifecycle from requirements to operations.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical designs, and participate in design reviews.
• Operate reliable production systems with testing, observability, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with scientists, PMs, and partner teams to bring AI advances into production.
