Amazon Leo is building the backend-for-frontend layer that orchestrates satellite internet provisioning and customer-facing services. The SDE II role focuses on designing backend gateway APIs, integrating across ordering, payments, and support systems, and delivering reliable, low-latency services at scale.
You will work with frontend, product, and partner teams to expand into new countries, with emphasis on resilient design, code quality, and AI-assisted development practices.
Job ID: 10592731 | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC
Amazon Leo is building a global e-commerce experience for Internet Service Provider (ISP) customers, and we need a Software Development Engineer II. You will build the backend-for-frontend layer, the service that sits directly behind the customer-facing surfaces and orchestrates over the many backend systems that make satellite internet work: ordering, payments, billing, equipment and network provisioning, and support.
The job is to shape what the frontend needs, route and orchestrate requests across those systems, translate between them, and compose their responses into reliable operations the customer experience can depend on. The core of the work is integration: calling many APIs, handling partial failures gracefully, mapping between different service models, and keeping latency and reliability high across a lot of moving parts. Much of this is built zero-to-one and expanding into new countries, so you will move from ambiguous problems to working products. You will own the full development lifecycle and work closely with frontend, product, and partner service teams.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
We build the e-commerce experience for a global ISP customer base at Amazon Leo. Our team owns the backend-for-frontend layer: the single API the customer-facing app talks to, and the orchestration behind it that connects to the systems provisioning and running satellite internet. We work hand in hand with the frontend team, shaping our APIs around what their experiences need. We are scaling the team and investing in AI-based development and operational workflows.
