Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a high-scale, highly available distributed system spanning identity, access management, and security.

You will design core infrastructure, build scalable services, and improve monitoring and incident response while mentoring junior engineers. You will work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within AWS Identity organization, contributing to architectural decisions and operational tooling

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Preferred: 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core identity infrastructure components including control plane APIs, data plane execution environments, and deployment orchestration systems
• Design and implement scalable, highly available services
• Develop monitoring, observability, and operational tooling to ensure production reliability and enable rapid incident response
• Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions for session management, identity/permissions, cross-account access, and security integrations
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and operational best practices
