Job summary

Smith+Naphew is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement software for robotic and computer-assisted surgical applications in a on-site Pittsburgh environment. You will develop, document, and execute tests ensuring performance, reliability and safety, while prototyping solutions to improve system accuracy and usability.

The role requires a BS in CS or related field with 3+ years of C++ in Linux/Unix, plus strong analytical and communication skills. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years of experience developing large-scale C++ applications in Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate complex concepts.

Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

• Developing, documenting, and executing tests to ensure software performance, reliability, and safety
• Prototyping and innovating solutions that improve system accuracy, usability, and performance
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, clinical, and research partners
• Contributing to technical discussions and solving complex problems across project teams

What will you need to be successful?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• 3 plus years of experience developing large scale C++ applications in Linux or Unix environments
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts
• Experience with software development tools such as Git, JIRA, Make, and CMake
• Knowledge of applied linear algebra, UI or graphical application development, and data analysis tools such as MATLAB
