Job summary

Smith+Nephew Life Unlimited division seeks an Inspector 1 to perform basic visual, dimensional and functional inspections of in-house manufactured products, determining conformance to specifications and documenting decisions. The role includes inspecting operators, supporting qualification/validation, reviewing documentation, and training other inspectors while adhering to GMP and GD&T principles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect assembled, semi-finished, and finished products per procedures and drawings.
• Use attribute/variable gauges to determine as found/as left conditions.
• Support qualification and validation activities.
• Review product documentation for specification conformance.
• Inspect operators across processes on the operations floor.
• Train other inspectors in required tasks.
• Adhere to GMP and blueprint interpretation standards.
• Identify nonconformities and properly document findings.
• Operate automated inspection equipment (vision systems, CAD/print checks).

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Neb The Inspector 1 shall be responsible for performing basic visual/dimensional/functional inspections of products manufactured/assembled in-house, determining whether or not the product meets specifications, and documenting these decisions. The Roving Inspector 1 shall also be responsible for executing inspections on operators performing a variety of processes on the operations floor.

What will you be doing?

• Inspect assembled product, semi-finished product & finished product per inspection procedures/drawings and to print specifications.
• Utilize attribute and variable measuring equipment/gauges as well as mating parts to determine as found/as left conditions of product.
• Support the qualification/validation processes for company product.
• Review corresponding product documentation to verify acceptability per specification and QSR requirements.
• Support department and organizational objectives.
• Represent and promote quality standards.
• Inspect operators performing a variety of processes on operations floor.
• Perform other quality functions as required.
• Train other inspectors on required tasks.
• Understanding of good manufacturing practices.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and blueprint interpretation.
• Must be capable of detecting nonconformities while performing repetitive inspections.
• Ability to make product judgments against applicable specifications.
• Operate automated inspection equipment ex: vision systems, digital comparators.
• Utilize attribute and variable measuring equipment/gauges as well as mating parts to determine as found/as left conditions of product.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Must possess good documentation skills to maintain neat and accurate records.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing and/or clean room environment.
• Must have good communication skills and be able to relay inspection results in a clear manner.

What will you need to be successful?

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0+ years of work experience in related field and/or inspecting product per inspection procedures/drawings and to print specifications utilizing attribute and variable measuring equipment/gauges is required.
• Predominantly documentation comparison and review.
