Job summary

CuraeSoft in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Software Developer Lead to guide a Flutter/Dart native app team, set technical direction, and ensure high-quality delivery across mobile platforms.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and backend teams, and drive end-to-end development, testing, and production release processes in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Software Developer Lead is a hands‑on engineering leader responsible for guiding a team through the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high‑quality applications. This role sets technical direction, establishes best practices, and ensures consistent execution across development activities.

In addition to contributing to the codebase, the Lead mentors engineers, coordinates with cross‑functional stakeholders, and drives alignment between technical solutions and business goals. The role also involves evaluating emerging technologies and continuously improving team performance, code quality, and overall development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Native App team, building and maintaining the company's mobile apps in Flutter/Dart for iOS and Android, with full technical and people ownership so this no longer requires day‑to‑day involvement from the VP/manager.
• Define technical direction, architecture, and best practices for the Flutter codebase, ensuring consistency, performance, and scalability across both platforms.
• Drive end‑to‑end app development: system design, implementation, code reviews, testing, release management, and production support.
• Own the app release process — App Store and Google Play submissions, versioning, phased rollouts, and crash/monitoring triage.
• Guide and mentor the native app team, building ownership, collaboration, and a strong bar for craft.
• Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and backend Engineers to translate requirements into high‑quality mobile experiences.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and developer tooling for the Flutter codebase.
• Maintain high standards for code quality and testing (unit, widget, integration) across the apps, proactively surfacing risks.
• Manage day‑to‑day team operations — workload distribution and quality bar — so it runs independently.
• Continuously evaluate Flutter ecosystem tools, packages, and processes, recommending improvements within an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Dart/ Flutter and a continuous learning mindset.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring developers, driving technical decisions, and managing delivery across multiple initiatives.
• Deep hands‑on experience building and shipping production mobile apps with Flutter for iOS and Android; prior native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin/Java) experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), design patterns, and building scalable, maintainable architectures.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, along with automated API testing and modern testing practices.
• Hands‑on experience with mobile test automation (e.g., Flutter's integration_test/widget testing, Appium).
• Experience owning app release engineering — CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and app store submission/rollout (fastlane, TestFlight, Google Play Console or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the full software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with development and collaboration tools such as GitHub and JIRA.
• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, data modeling/schema design, and system design best practices.
• Experience with AI tools, AI‑assisted development, or building AI‑enabled applications is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and align stakeholder expectations in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with strong analytical thinking and a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
