Job summary

Agate Software is seeking a Software Developer II to build and evolve a mission-critical grant-management product. You will work across the stack—SQL is essential, with backend services/middle tier and front-end work. The role requires ownership, pragmatic engineering, and Agile collaboration to deliver real features in production.

Hybrid onsite/remote after 90 days; you will mentor teammates, review code, and drive performance improvements while shipping production-ready capabilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building production web applications with a backend language and database-driven systems.
• Strong SQL skills including stored procedures, indexing basics, and query tuning.
• Experience with VB.NET or C#.NET and front-end tech (HTML/CSS/JS).
• Ability to work in an Agile delivery model and participate in ceremonies.
• Ability to own end-to-end features from database to UI.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end features across database, backend, and frontend.
• Own medium-to-high complexity work from refinement through implementation and release.
• Collaborate with QA to improve test coverage and ensure quality.
• Mentor Software Developer I teammates through pairing and reviews.
