Job summary

Apex Systems in San Diego is seeking a Software Engineer I to support the NIWC Pacific ITMSS program. This 6-month contract to hire role focuses on developing secure software applications and web services for DoD missions in classified and unclassified environments.

Onsite in San Diego, pay rate $60+ per hour on contract or $125k–$135k salary conversion, with a Secret clearance and IAT Level II certification required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Active IAT Level II Certification required.
• Hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain secure software applications using Python and JavaScript.
• Build and support web applications, APIs, and data integration services using REST, SOAP, and GraphQL.
• Follow DevSecOps, Agile/Scrum, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
• Implement secure coding practices in compliance with DoD standards and DISA STIG requirements.
• Design and maintain database schemas, system architectures, and technical documentation.
• Support system integration activities and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Apex Systems is seeking a Software Engineer I to support the NIWC Pacific Information Technology Management Support Services (ITMSS) program.

This role focuses on developing secure software applications and web services in support of Department of Defense missions across both classified and unclassified environments.

San Diego, CA (100% Onsite)

6-month contract to hire

Pay Rate: $60+/hr while on contract / $125k - $135k salary conversion salary

Secret Clearance Required

IAT Level II Certification Required (Security+, CySA+, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, or CCNA Security)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain secure software applications using Python and JavaScript.
• Build and support web applications, APIs, and data integration services utilizing: REST, SOAP, GraphQL.
• Follow DevSecOps, Agile/Scrum, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
• Implement secure coding practices in compliance with DoD standards and DISA STIG requirements.
• Design and maintain database schemas, system architectures, and technical documentation.
• Support system integration activities and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Active IAT Level II Certification.
• Hands-on experience with: Python, JavaScript.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Familiarity with DoD software development environments.
