Software Engineer-Developer 4
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado (Onsite)
Role Overview
This role involves the design, development, testing, and maintenance of non-embedded software throughout its lifecycle. The position requires reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into software designs, and ensuring products meet industry and regulatory standards. The engineer will also handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and advise on software domains and system-specific issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of requirements, architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for high-performance APIs between front-end and back-end software services.
- Guide software development activities in an Agile environment using DevSecOps methodologies, including the integration of software components.
- Lead the development of critical features and manage the full development lifecycle from design through deployment.
- Build, architect, and consume APIs and backend services with an emphasis on automation, testing, and security.
- Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, enforce best practices, and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Lead the creation and translation of design mockups into functional user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks.
- Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance.
- Work effectively in ambiguous environments, providing mentorship and leadership to the team.
Required Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience with software development for space systems and ground segments performing command, control, mission planning, and data processing.
- Technical Skills: 5+ years of development experience using Python, 3+ years of experience with JavaScript (e.g., Angular, JQuery), and 3+ years of experience working with TypeScript.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in software development on government programs.
- 5+ years of experience with designing and developing intuitive user interfaces featuring real-time, 2D/3D geospatial visualization.
- 5+ years of experience in the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, and test.
- 5+ years of experience with database technologies (Postgres, SQL/NoSQL).
- 3+ years with Java and FastAPI (Python API) languages.
- In-depth knowledge of Command and Control (C2) systems, mission planning, ground systems, and real-time application requirements.
- Strong experience using CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, builds, and deployment workflows.
