Job summary

AMEWAS is seeking a skilled Software Developer (DAPS)-Journeyman to support the DAPS team at Patuxent River, MD. The role centers on building the next generation DAPS software using Python, Django, and modern DevOps practices in Windows/Linux environments.

The position requires DoD Secret Clearance on onboarding and is on-site only. You will interface with legacy databases and RF/ODs equipment, delivering design documentation and GUI enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Proficiency with DevOps and Continuous Integration.
• Experience with complex application architectures and APIs to control or retrieve data from other applications.
• Experience designing GUIs (OS or web applications).
• Experience analyzing legacy software for modernization.
• Experience using Agile development and DevOps methodologies.
• Ability to collaborate with customers, engineers, and technicians to design, develop, and deploy solutions.
• Current DoD Secret Clearance on onboarding is required.

Responsibilities

• Designs a Windows application that will serve as the new DAPS software.
• Uses Agile methods (SCRUM or DoD agile standard) in fixed length Sprints.
• Develops high-level design of the overall system architecture for a new DAPS using Agile processes.
• Attends daily development discussions and Sprint ceremonies.
• Creates System Architecture documentation and related project docs.
• Interfaces with legacy DAPS SQL database and existing transceivers.
• Develops a GUI to control software functions.
• Works with Windows and Linux environments and various tools.
