SAS is seeking a Software Developer - Back-End in Cary, North Carolina. Join the EVAAS team to build and improve a data-driven web application used by educators to turn data into actionable insights.

You will work across the full development lifecycle, applying Java and SQL to deliver scalable backend functionality and collaborative solutions with your team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2–5 years of professional full-time experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with Java programming.
• Experience developing and delivering Web-based applications.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Location: Cary HQ, hybrid (minimum of 3 days in the office per week).

About the job

As a Software Developer on the SAS EVAAS (Education Visualization and Analytics System) team, you will help develop a web application used by educators to uncover insights from the data our tools provide. You will have the opportunity to contribute across the full design and development lifecycle, from early concepts through delivery and ongoing improvement.

As a Software Developer, you will:

• Utilize your Java and SQL skills to write reliable, well-tested backend code that supports meaningful education insights.
• Design backend systems and processes that deliver the EVAAS web application to educators in a scalable and repeatable fashion.
• Work with the team from design through implementation to evolve the EVAAS web application and supporting backend systems.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field with 2-5 years of professional full-time experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with:
  • Java programming
  • Developing and delivering Web-based applications
  • Relational databases
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with the following:
