About Us: The Center for the Study of Services (CSS) is a leader in healthcare survey research, based in Washington, DC. CSS is an established nonprofit organization with over 70 full-time staff. We provide valuable information to consumers through our brand Checkbook, helping them make informed decisions about their healthcare. Position Overview: The Software Developer is responsible for building in-house desktop applications and web-based applications. In-house applications center around high-volume data import/export, automated quality assurance, calculation/analysis, and report generation. The Software Developer reports to the Director of Software Engineering, while working closely with CSS's research teams, the Senior Software Engineer, and other CSS staff.

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000 based on qualifications and experience

Schedule: This is a hybrid position that is required to commute to our Washington, DC office 3 times per week. Our current required office days are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third day of your choice. Our office is conveniently located by both the Farragut North and Farragut West metro stations. Our standard office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with experience or coursework in class-based, object-oriented programming (.NET, C#, Java, Python), data structures, queries, and analysis (SQL, R).
  • Experience or familiarity with web application development with ASP.NET and SQL server.
  • Familiarity with frameworks, such as Angular, Vue, React, jQuery, Bootstrap, Foundation or equivalent.
  • Well versed with Git, Gitflow Workflow, NPM, Unit & Stress Testing.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure is a bonus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work productively independently as well as in a team-based setting.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Applicants should have excellent references as well as strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral. Must be SHRM-CP certified to be considered.
