Job summary

ABB is seeking a Software Asset Manager to govern the lifecycle of software assets, drive license strategy, and optimize costs. You will partner with IS, Procurement, Finance, and Security to ensure compliant, cost-effective software investments across the country.

The role requires leadership in governance, asset lifecycle, and audit readiness, with a focus on transparency, efficiency, and risk mitigation. Hybrid work model across multiple US locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or technology financial management.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing models and contract structures.
• Experience managing major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, SAP, SaaS providers, cloud platforms).
• Demonstrated success driving cost savings and optimization initiatives.
• Experience preparing for and managing software audits.
• Strong analytical, financial, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategy & Governance: implement SAM strategy, policies, and standards aligned with global divisions.
• Governance: deploy frameworks for software acquisition, deployment, usage, and retirement.
• License & Asset Lifecycle: manage end-to-end software assets from request to retirement.
• Cost Management: provide budget transparency and identify savings through optimization.
• Vendor & Contract Management: negotiate terms and support renewals with major publishers.
• Compliance & Risk: ensure licensing compliance and readiness for audits.
• Data, Reporting & Tooling: develop dashboards and KPIs for spend and compliance.
