Job summary

K2United, LLC is seeking an Intermediate Software Architect to shape the technical direction of CareerSafe's software products while staying close to implementation. You will collaborate across Product Development to design scalable solutions and mentor teams, ensuring architecture remains well-documented and maintainable.

The role involves prototyping, evaluating new technologies, and stepping into development when needed, with travel ~10% and a 9/80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software development experience with production-quality code.
• Strong backend development and three-tier system design.
• Professional Python experience; Django is a plus.
• Experience designing relational database schemas.
• Experience designing or integrating APIs and understanding component interactions.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical designs and prototypes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.
• Familiarity with cloud architecture, AWS preferred, and Terraform for IaC.
• Familiarity with Vue or modern front-end concepts is a plus.
• Experience in environments with federal compliance considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, forward-looking software solutions for complex needs.
• Use prototypes and proofs-of-concepts to validate designs before major work.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve scalability and maintainability.
• Contribute to active development when capacity is needed while upholding standards.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to clarify direction and dependencies.
• Participate in refinement discussions, clarifying scope and acceptance criteria.
• Provide technical expertise during high-priority incidents and triage.
