Job summary

1X is seeking a hands-on Softgoods Engineer to transform ambitious ideas into real-world products. You will own development from initial concept through production ramp, applying precision in materials, bonding, and tooling while collaborating with designers, engineers, and manufacturers.

You will guide workflows and ensure repeatable results across teams, balancing speed with quality and safety as we scale the NEO home robot ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in hardware or softgoods design.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• A portfolio showing professional and personal projects is required.

Responsibilities

• Drive softgoods products from concept through production.
• Build prototypes, tooling, and fixtures to ensure quality and repeatability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, engineers, manufacturing partners, and vendors to move development forward.
• Develop assembly, bonding, and fabrication workflows for repeatable results.
• Lead new technology introduction and address risks early while upholding craftsmanship.
