Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a Softball Assistant Coach at Portland High School to support the head coach and the Extra Curricular & Athletic Coordinator in developing student-athletes and building a strong program.

The role focuses on teaching fundamentals, conditioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while assisting with practices, games, and program operations. Collaboration with staff and adherence to district policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of softball fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Previous softball coaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaching staff, and administration.
• Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and student-athlete development.
• Must have fingerprints scanned electronically and submitted to the Michigan State Police prior to hire.

Responsibilities

The Softball Assistant Coach will assist with all aspects of the Portland High School softball program. The selected candidate will work directly with the Head Softball Coach and the Extra-Curricular Activities Director to support the overall development and success of the program.
