Job summary

IMMI is seeking a detail-oriented Trim Engineer to design, develop, and implement soft trim components for seating and occupant safety systems. You will work with Product Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to meet safety, quality, cost, and manufacturability goals.

Responsibilities include design release of trim patterns, BOM management, cost analysis, and collaboration across teams. Strong CAD skills and ISO/TS16949/ISO 14000 knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Design, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years in soft trim and foam development, including cut-and-sew component design and foam skiving.
• Experience with automotive seating systems, material specs, and manufacturing integration.
• Proficient in pattern development (paper and digital) and trim material selection (vinyl, leather, foam, fabric).
• Knowledgeable in DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP/PPAP, and IPC/ISO standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to present technical information in cross-functional meetings.

Responsibilities

• Design and production support for soft trim components ensuring compliance with specs and regulatory standards.
• Develop and release trim cover drawings and patterns using cut-and-sew techniques.
• Create and manage BOMs for prototypes and production, identifying tooling needs.
• Prepare and manage project plans with timelines, CASO initiation, and documentation.
• Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate materials, tooling readiness, and construction methods.
• Conduct post-launch quality reviews and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
